Co Coated Diamond Powder

20+ Years Experience Ultra-Precision Quality Customized Solutions
Co Coated Diamond Powder is a specialized coated abrasive developed for metal bond systems where cobalt compatibility is critical. With a uniform cobalt coating, it takes advantage of the strong affinity between cobalt and diamond to enhance bonding performance in cobalt-based impregnated matrices. This grade is designed to balance the wear rate of the diamond and the metal bond, ensuring stable diamond exposure and sustained cutting sharpness. It is mainly used in impregnated drilling and sawing applications operated under high pressure with sufficient cooling, where strong bonding performance can be fully utilized while minimizing thermal risks.

Features

  • Cobalt Matrix Compatibility: Excellent wettability and metallurgical compatibility with cobalt-rich matrices such as WC–Co and cobalt-based alloys, enabling strong bonding and good thermal matching.
  • Controlled Interfacial Bonding: Under optimized low-temperature sintering, forms a stable and controllable diamond–cobalt interface that balances grit retention and edge renewal.
  • Balanced Wear Performance: Designed for impregnated tools, matching diamond wear with matrix wear to achieve self-sharpening and long service life.
  • High-Pressure & Coolant-Dependent Application: Performs best under high pressure with sufficient coolant, where heat buildup and cobalt-catalyzed graphitization are effectively suppressed.
  • Specialized for Impregnated Tools: Ideal for geological and oil drilling tools, as well as selected stone and concrete cutting applications in abrasive formations.
  • Thermal Sensitivity (Important Note): Not suitable for high-temperature oxidative environments, high-temperature ceramic or Fe/Cu bond systems, or dry and high-heat grinding conditions.

Specifications

Available Grit Sizes

  • Fine grit (10–50 μm): Ideal for polishing, lapping, and precision grinding of ceramics, glass, and electronic materials.
  • Medium grit (50–200 μm): Suitable for general-purpose grinding and cutting of stone, composites, and hard alloys.
  • Coarse grit (200–600 μm): Designed for heavy material removal, drilling, and shaping of ultra-hard materials like tungsten carbide and advanced ceramics.

Coating Thickness

  • Light coating: Enhances wettability while maintaining sharpness, recommended for soft bonds such as resin and bronze.
  • Medium coating: Balances adhesion and thermal resistance, ideal for metal and vitrified bonds.
  • Heavy coating: Provides maximum oxidation resistance and durability in extreme temperatures, suitable for high-temperature sintering and demanding applications.
