SRDM-Surface Roughed Diamond Micropowder
Description: SRDM (Surface-Roughed Diamond Micropowder) features a lightly micro-pitted surface created by controlled etching. This texture increases binder grip and mechanical interlocking while preserving particle strength. You gain higher grit retention, reduced pull-out and a smoother scratch profile, extending tool service life. Available from 1 μm and coarser.
What is SRDM?
SRDM is produced by selectively roughening the diamond surface to form fine pits and nano-scale asperities without damaging the crystal core. The result is an isotropic, high-strength particle with tight size control that anchors securely in electroplated and bonded systems. During operation, the micro-texture helps maintain stable cutting force and wear resistance, improving consistency across long production runs.
Advantages of SRDM
- Micro-Pitted Surface: Strong mechanical interlock and higher grit retention.
- Core Strength Preserved: Controlled etch depth maintains intrinsic particle toughness.
- Improved Wettability & Surface Area: Enhances binder wetting in electroplated and resin/metal systems.
- Low Scratch Risk: Stable cutting with fewer deep scratches on brittle substrates.
- High Wear Resistance & Surface Hardness: Extends tool life and reduces maintenance.
- Concentrated Size Distribution: Oversize strictly controlled for process stability.
- Customisable: Particle size can be matched to your process.
Typical Processing Applications
Production:Engineered for electroplated tools and high-hold-force bonded systems requiring durable grit anchoring.
- Electroplated Tools: Wire saws, dicing blades, band/slotting saws, drills and small profile tools.
- Metal/Resin/Ceramic Bond Wheels: Edge grinding, bevelling and contour grinding for glass, sapphire and ceramics.
- Semiconductor & Electronics: Lapping and polishing of sapphire, SiC, GaN and Si wafers.
- Precision Optics & Advanced Ceramics: Low-damage grinding and finishing of quartz, glass-ceramics, alumina and zirconia.
